About Me
My name is Simon Jaramillo. I was born in the United States but I lived in Colombia my whole life until my family and I moved to Canada when I was around 11 years old looking for better opportunities. I am a student at Sheridan College, where I am currently studying network engineering and software development. I chose this program because I enjoy challenging myself with projects that even though they can be difficult, when I finally complete them, I get a sense of relief and satisfaction. I also like the way I can share my work with the public and receive positive feedback from them. This motivates me to keep improving and strive to keep creating even better things. Alongside with my studies I am currently working at the grocery store Longos and during the summer I work at Costco in the garden center.
My Interests
I am very passionate about many things, but the ones that I can confidently say I am most invested in are sports, technology and art. I love to play soccer though, ever since I moved to Canada I haven't been able to continue playing in a competitive environment but I would love to get back into it. Secondly, ever since I was little I've always been interested in how technology works and all the things that are involved in the making. Lastly, anything that's art related that I can share with others, such as video editing, music, clothing designs and now programming. All of these things allow me to combine both creativity with problem solving and connect with people through my work. I am also interested and willing to always learn new things, stay open-minded, and adapt to new technologies as they continue to improve and change the world around us
Future Plans
My future plans are to do well in school and be able to get a good co-op opportunity. I hope to get hired by this same company after I'm done with the co-op, or if I don't get it, be able to find a stable and well paying job that allows me to support me and my family financially. I would also love to move to a different country to experience new opportunities and explore new cultures. Lastly, I want to earn enough money not only to build a successful career, but also have enough time and freedom to be able to do and enjoy the things I love to do with the people who matter most to me. Another important thing I am planning on doing in the future is to get closer with God and deepening my connection to religion. I believe that faith can guide me, keep me grounded, and help me grow as a person as I work towards my goals.
